Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad addresses non-Ahmadi guests at Day 2 of Germany Annual Convention

Head of Ahmadiyya Muslim Community: “True Khilafat is Spiritual Leadership and Has No Interest in Power or Government.”

On Saturday, June 14th, 2014, the World Head of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, the Fifth Khalifa, His Holiness, Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad emphasised the true nature of Khilafat (Caliphate) during an address in front of around 1,000 non-Ahmadi guests at the second day of the 39th Annual Convention of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community in Germany. His Holiness also used his address to categorically disprove claims that Islam advocates extremism or violence at any level.

Speaking about the institution of Khilafat, Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad said:

Today the Institution of Khilafat – that is the institution of spiritual succession that leads the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community – is keeping Islam’s true teachings alive.

Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad continued:

The Khilafat of the Ahmadiyya Community can never depart from Islam’s core teachings of fulfilling the rights owed to God and to mankind. Today, the institution of Khilafat is striving for peace in every possible way and to spread love and affection throughout the world.

Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad said:

Let me make it clear that the institution of Khilafat leading the Ahmadiyya Community has no interest in power or government. Rest assured that true Khilafat has no worldly or political objectives. The sole concern of the Ahmadiyya Khilafat is that the people of the world come to recognise their Creator and bow down before the One God.

His Holiness also spoke of the connection between Ahmadi Muslims and their Khalifa. He said it was due to this unique relationship that Ahmadi Muslims were united and intent upon spreading Islam’s message of peace across the world.

Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad said:

You are seeing for yourselves that in these halls there are thousands of men and women who are completely attached to Khilafat and through this unbreakable spiritual bond they are perfectly united. They speak only of how to spread love and affection and how to fulfill the rights of humanity.

His Holiness said Islam was a religion of peace and compassion and that Ahmadi Muslims followed these true values. He said the Founder of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, His Holiness, Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad of Qadian had repeatedly urged is followers to show sympathy towards mankind.

Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad quoted an extract from the writings of the Promised Messiah where he said:

There are only two complete parts of faith. One is to love God and the other is to love mankind to such a degree that you consider the suffering and the trials and tribulations of others as your own and that you pray for them.

Speaking of Islam’s teachings in relation to equality, Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad said:

Islam teaches Muslims to free every person and every nation from all forms of slavery and servitude – whether physical, economic or social slavery. Islam teaches us that all people are equal and that one’s race and colour are not means of superiority or status.

His Holiness concluded by appealing for unity and the promotion of common values.

Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad said:

Instead of pointing fingers at one another and instead of hurting the feelings of each other, we should instead join together as one and work towards the progress of the nation and towards establishing peace in the world.

Various dignitaries also addressed the Annual Convention. Each of them commended the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community for its commitment to peace and freedom of belief.

Earlier in the day, His Holiness, Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad directly addressed the members of the Lajna Imaillah (Ladies Auxiliary Organisation) in which he counselled them towards modesty in all aspects of their lives and of the importance of the moral training of their children.

  1. It is very premature to say that Khilafat will not interfere in government affairs. When Ahmadies are in absolute power in a country with overwhelming majority of Ahmadies, then there will be a true test for the above claim.

    • You have a point there, Iqbal. Although, of course, I am 200% confident that the Khalifa himself will stick to what he said, that he does not want to have political power, I am sure there will be pressure from some people surrounding him to ‘interfere’. Still, of course, I am sure that the will of the Khalifa will prevail, Inshallah.

  2. The words of Khalifa are unbreakable laws to Ahmadi Muslims as it won’t deviate or contradict from the laws derived from the Holy Quran , conduct of the Holy Prophet (sa) of Islam and also from the established traditions attributed to him by early Muslims.
Regarding the manner in which Muslim governments should be run the popular idea is that in day to day administrative matters, affairs, and measures, the government , as representatives of the people, becomes instrumental in the expression of God’s Will. …

  3. The time has nw come to offer allegiance to Hadrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad, the only divine Khalifa in the whole world’All Jehadi must listen to him and seek guidance-this is only way of salvation Hasanat Ahmad Syed Canada

  4. Assalamo Alaikum! now, that the muslim world is talking about Khalifat, let it be understood that in order to accept this position in islam, there are conditions. This position has always had conditions: There must have been a prophet on the scene who had died. There must be followers who accept that prior prophet words, informing them what to look for in terms of the signs of the claimant. They should do whatever is necessary to seek out the individual who is making the claims, no matter where he’s from. Find him and question his claims. Pray to Allah for guidance. Muslims must remember, Moses(AS) was the law-giver and Jesus(AS) came to fulfill that law. Jesus(AS) was a prophet who followed the law given to Moses.(AS). The Holy Prophet Muhammad (SAW) said there would be a prophet after him.He would be the a non law bearing prophet, like Jesus(AS). The Holy Prophet)SAW) said, “That if Ibrahim, (his son) would have lived, he would have been a prophet.” Read what Allah said in chapters, 3:160 and 24:56. These verses speak about Khilafat (successorship). I think just like the Christians, the muslims are tired of waiting for Jesus(AS) IF YOU BELIEVE THE PROMISED MESSIAH’S KHALIFA NEED THIS WORLD AND ALL ITS TRAPS, LOOK INTO THE HISTORY OF AHMADIYYA. THE TRUE ISLAM. My sincere prayers goes out to the muslim world who have not accepted their Messiah! Manmade weapons will never change hearts, only TRUTH!!

That is right. We hope and pray and believe that the Ahmadi Khalifah sahib will guide the Ahmadis and will try to keep away from power politics.
It is true that there is always great wish to topple a government when majority is achieved. That seemed to be the policy of Jama’at Islami way back in the 1950’s. That would be very bad. Ahmadiyat being in nearly all countries of the world, it would not be good and possible for it to indulge into politics.
In a country with a good non-Muslim ruler who allowed justice and complete freedom for all religions, Ahmadiyat will prevail and will abide by its rule not to indulge into anti-government politics. Ahmadis will keep on serving the country and supporting the ruler. They will ensure that no harm comes to that good government which did not disturb any religion.
It is hoped that Ahmadis will not accept any offer of power (government) even if offered on a plate.
