Translation By Ghulam Sarwar

(We are very grateful to brother Ghulam Sarwar Sahib for translating it in to English. Jazak Allah fa Ahsal Jaza)

IT was the evening transmission.  It is 16 minutes interview. AlShaikh Muhammad Sharif Audeh was invited for interview. The anchor said. “Todays program is about the Jama’at al ahmadiyah. We have Muhammad Sharif Audeh, the Ameer of Jama’at Ahmadiyah in Haifah with us today.”

 He introduced M. Sharif sahib.

Anchor said that Jama’at Ahmadiyah has spread all over the world. We will try to get some knowledge (information) about that Jama’at. These people act on the matters of Deen properly. So we will find out now from M. Sharif Audeh sahib.

Q.  This Jama’at is any movement or religion or any sect?

A.  It is a Jama’at. The prophet Muhammad s.a.w.s. had advised Muslims should always remain attached with the Jama’at and its Imam. If there is no jama’at or Imam then men should leave all sects and go to Jungle and eat the skin of the trees, but must keep away from all sects.

Q.  When was this Jama’at established?

A.  In 1889,  hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad (a.s.) of Qadian established this Jama’at. At that time, people of all different faiths were anxiously waiting for their reformer (Leader). Hazrat Aqdas a.s. claimed to be that reformer for all. He said that he was the Imam Mahdi and the Promised Messiah (a.s.). He was born in a village (Qadian) in India.

Q. What beliefs does this Jama’at have about Muslims and Islam?

A.  Muhammad s.a.w.s. had told that Muslim is the one by whose hand and tongue nobody is harmed. Muslim is the one who tries to improve his status of next life. And he tries to serve the people.
There are two responsibilities.. 1. To attend to the rights of Allah 2. To attend to the rights of people. Whoever attends to the rights of the people along with the rights of Allah, he is the true Muslim. That person will avoid all bad deeds and will strive for good deeds and will serve all mankind. Because Allah is Rabb of all creation, So Muslims should serve all creation without distinction, without prejudice.

Q. Are There any conditions to join the Jama’at?

A. Yes, there are Ten conditions. One of them is that the person will never harm any one with his hand or in any other way. He will try to serve all in best manner. And to believe that we have no other Book except the Quran, and there is no other messenger (rasool) other than Muhammad and there is no intercessor (Shaafi) for us except Muhammad.

Q. It is allowed to enter the Jama’at. Is there any restriction to leave the Jama’at?

A. No, there is no restriction. Every one is free to Join or leave peacefully. There is no Compulsion in religion (2:256). Let any one believe and let any one deny. But when any one joins the Jama’at, he/she has to follow the rules of the Jama’at. If one does not comply then he can be sent out of the Jama’at.

Q. What is the regulatory (NizaM) system of this Jama’at. How it is organized?

A. After the demise of the Promised Messiah a.s. in year 1908, a system of Khilafat was established according to the teachings of the Messiah a.s. and also according to the words of the prophet Muhammad s.a.w.s . that Khilafat on the precepts of the prophethood (minhaaj an Nabuuwwat) will again be established in the Ummah. At present our leader is the fifth khalifah hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad sahib. He is our leader and our respectable Imam. The whole Jama’at listens and follows his directives.

Q. What service is your Jama’at providing for Islam?

A. There are many ways, there are lessens about Quran, translation of Quran are being done. In every country, every city, lessons are being given. Mosques and mission houses are being built. Example, mosques in Germany, UK,….

Q. Tell me something about the centers of Islamic propagation.

A. Centers for tableegh have been established in many countries of the world, and mosques are built for same purpose. Example is the Ist mosque in London was built in 1924. There are mosques and mission house in Copenhagen, Germany, America, every where. If any one does not understand Arabic, then translation is always provided in every language. Many persons are joining the Jama’at everyday, every year. Our teachers are present in every country.
We serve every one. As Allah is Rehmat lilaalameen, we also serve every one.

Q. How do you meet your expenses?

a.  Jama’at members pay money to the jama’at at all times. Every one gives 6.25 % of their earning to jama’at. There is a system of wasiyat in Jama’at. Under that system, the persons concerned pay more than 10 % of their moveable and non-moveable property to the Jama’at. Apart from that there are other movements, such as tehreek jadeed and waqf e jadeed etc.

Q. Do you get any outside financial help from any one?

A. No. We do not take. But we rather give monetary help to others by building schools and hospitals in many countries. There is a program called Humanity First who help any people during natural disasters.
Q. We know that people call you Kafir. Please tell us what are your beliefs about the prophet Muhammad.

A. We Ahmadis believe that he is Khaatam an Nabiyyeen. He brought such a law (Shariah) which is complete (kaamil) and it is for ever. He is a prophet for the whole mankind for ever. Hazrat Musa a.s. came for the children of Israel with a limited mission only which he achieved. Isa a.s. came only for the Jews. Isa a.s. even forbade his followers to preach to Saamaris.
Muhammad s.a.w.s. is a prophet for the whole world for all times. i.e. Aalami Nabi.
Allah had told Musa a.s. that He will raise from  amongst his brethren (Ishmaelis), a prophet, the like of Musa. Allah said, “I will put my words into his mouth and he will speak in my name, all that I will tell him. Any one who will not obey him, I will require it from him, I will take account of it from him.
Also, Allah has told in the Quran, “Wa maa yantiqu an il hawaa, Inn huwa illa wahyun yoohaa.” He does not speak from self (mad desires). It is nothing but all is revelation which is being revealed to him.” So the prophet Muhammad s.a.w.s. passed on to the people, all that was revealed to him.
Besides, he spoke everything with the name of Allah i.e. Bismillah..
He had come as an international prophet. Then due to his blessings, Allah has informed us in Quran that any one who will be truely obedient to Allah and His Messenger (Muhammad s.a.w.s.), Allah will make them join the fold of prophets and Siddiqueen and Shaheed and saaliheen… (Ch. 4, v. 69)
All these ranks (status) are available to the true believers of this ummah.

Q. All is well discussed and understood but what about Isa a.s.. What are your beliefs about Isa son of Maryam a.s.??

A. Isa was a messenger for the children of Israel only. He was arrested and put on the cross. But Allah saved him from death on the cross. One soldier who poked a spear on the side of Isa a.s. after he was brought down from cross, blood and water rushed out. That was a sure sign that he was alive. He had not died on the cross.
After the ordeal of the cross, Isa a.s. recovered and went on his journey. The Quran describes that he went to Rabwah, a high place full of gushing waters and fountains. Allah saved him and gave refuge to Isa a.s. and his mother in a beautiful place, described in Quran as Rabwah.
These news about Jesus are quite well in accordance with the Quran and the Bible. In Bible also it is described that: “These are not my only sheep. I have other sheep too, to whom I have to go…”
At that time, there were only two Jewish tribes in kanaan. The other ten tribes were scattered in the eastern countries. Isa a.s. knew about them. So he travelled to the east and went to look after his sheep in eastern countries. He migrated to east.

Q. What about abrogation of some verses of the Quran?

A. There is no abrogation of any verse of the Quran. Albeit (Albattah) the earlier revelation (Shariah) revealed before Quran may have been abrogated by the verses of the Quran.

Q/A. Then questions were asked about the last day and angels. Sharif sahib told that is all true (haqq). Then a question was asked about Jihaad.

A.      There are serious misunderstandings amongst non Ahamdi muslims about Jihaad. The Quran says, “Wa Jaahidhum bihee Jihaadan Kabeera.”  And strive against the non believers with this (Quran) a great Jihaad, i.e. with a great effort (struggle).
That is real Jihaad. It is permissible to do jihaad for the peaceful propagation of Islam and for self defense. But to kill any one or to compel any one to become Muslim (change of faith under duress) is not Jihaad. We Ahmadis are busy doing the right type of Jihaad ,day and night. The Quran is telling us that there is no compulsion in the matters of faith. Let every one believe what he/she likes. The prophet s.a.w.s. was told by Allah that it was his duty to pass on the message. He was not a policeman over the people in matters of faith.

Q. What about Life after death?   A: It is true (haqq).
Q. The punishment in the grave (Azaab e qabar)?   A: Affirmative, (Haqq).
Q. Please explain the questioning (chastisement) of the grave?
A.  This present body will turn to dust. It will be no more. Soul will remain. Every soul needs a body and body needs a soul. So, after death, the human soul will be given a new body of some sort. That body is prepared by the good or bad deeds of the person. That body tastes the result of deeds and goes through good or bad time. WE do not have enough knowledge about the effect on that body.

Q. What is the matter, all sects call you  Kaafir (infidel)?

A. We are Muslims. The Prophet s.a.w.s. had said,”Whoever recites the Kalimah and prays as we pray and faces our Qiblah (Ka’abah) and eats out of our food, he is a Muslim. There is a guarantee of safety (Zimmah) from Allah for that person..…”

Q. All other Muslims are issuing directives, edicts (fataawaa). They talk about Jihaad etc. Why don’t you reply?

A. We are replying day and night. We are busy in that day and night. Our newspapers, and books and our TV channels (MTA) is busy telling the truth. It is giving sermons and other religious advice on many channels world wide in many different languages… The message is being presented.

The anchor thanked Muhammad Sharif Audeh sahib, Ameer Jama’at Ahmadiyah Muslimah in Haifah, Israel.
The above is an approximate translation of the interview. Due to my short coming, I could not translate correctly.
