They blamed Pakistan!

Source: Dawn.Com

They blamed Pakistan for allegedly sending its “troops, not just the Taliban” for attacking US soldiers in Afghanistan. They accused Pakistan of “patronising” cross-border terrorism in Afghanistan and for “sending terrorists” into India to “kill Indian civilians”.

Pakistan was also blamed for nurturing Lashkar-e-Taiba and Jamaatud Dawa and for “allowing” Hafiz Saeed to “operate freely” and launch cross-border attacks into India.

Some lawmakers blamed Pakistan for killing Baloch civilians and for suppressing Baloch and Sindhi languages and cultures too.

Similar allegations keep on propping up of and on in local as well international free media. Few agree to the allegations while few reject these. However those having deep eye on the matter always wonder why such allegations never levied on China, Russia, Iran, Afghanistan, India or even any other country of the region. Why only Pakistan always gets the blame of nurturing terrorism.. Reality on ground unfortunately supports these allegations. Over period of time certain elements have gained so much power in military brass that they remain adamant to push their own perception of Pakistani strategic interests. As bad luck would have it Pakistan also devoid of any recognized and powerful think tank. Foreign and Defence matters have totally been left to the military personnel. With in military circles exist no such forum where all changing requirements of the world and region are monitored and viable suggestions are presented. Institutes on the name of strategic studies do exist and they keep on publicising their analysis but all such analysis and suggestions tailored made to fit the typical thinking of military brass.

Given the existing scenario current government also seems to be incompetent to present solutions to the forthcoming challenges of the region. What ever military elite is proposing, civil government is bound to accept and act on it. This does not mean the nation is infertile or devoid of thoughts. Here and there media, intellectual and few renowned institutions keep on analysing and suggesting the measures, but regrettably remain failed to make any dent to the rigid thinking of military brass.

Apparently no immediate solution is in pipe line. Civil elite lacks the guts and competence to overhaul the existing system. Mighty military remains on watch and will not allow these aspects to be passed on to the civil rulers. Some hope arose in the person of IK of PTI but how things unfolded after elections this hope also died down. Any way nation still waits some Messiah who can put the things right for ever.
