Head of Ahmadiyya Muslim Community delivers Historic Address in Singapore

Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad calls for justice at all levels

The World Head of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jamaat and Fifth Khalifa, Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad delivered the keynote address at a Welcome Reception held in his honour at the Oriental Mandarin Hotel in Singapore on the evening of 26 September 2013. The event was attended by more than 100 non-Ahmadi dignitaries and guests, including Mr Lee Koon Choy a founding member of the ruling People’s Action Party, who during a distinguished career also served as Singapore’s Ambassador to various countries.

During his keynote address, Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad explained the basis for a just economy; the need for equity between nations; the misrepresentation of Islam; and his concerns at the increasing risk of a Third World War.

His Holiness began his address by referring to the modern day negative portrayal of Islam. He said that the religion had been defamed across the world due to the hateful acts conducted by certain so-called Muslims who were motivated only by personal gain.

Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad said:

In much of the world today there is a belief or perception that Islam is a religion of extremism and force. Let me say at the outset that this is entirely wrong and the reality is the complete opposite… The truth is that there are some selfish Muslims who seek only to serve their own personal interests. To feed their own ambitions and desires they are interpreting Islam’s teachings in completely the wrong way and therefore have enabled various unfounded allegations to be levelled against Islam. Their acts unfairly tarnish Islam’s pure name even though the reality is that at every instance Islam provides only rational and logical answers that are entirely fair and just.

Speaking about the means for a successful economy, His Holiness said Islam advocated fairness at all levels.

Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad said:

Islam teaches that the world’s natural resources are the combined property and wealth of all of mankind… The vast treasures that Allah the Almighty has endowed, both above and below the earth, are not just for a few selected individuals but are for the benefit of every single person, in every part of the world.

Speaking about the importance of education, Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad said universal access was necessary.

His Holiness said:

Islam teaches that each and every child, no matter his or her background, should be provided a proper education so that they can develop into skilled and truly beneficial members of society.

Speaking about international relations, His Holiness said that peace between nations could only be achieved through justice at all levels and that developed countries should seek to assist under-developed countries selflessly.

Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad said:

Alliances or friendships with particular nations should not be a determining factor in deciding whether to assist other countries. Favouritism of any kind should not occur – rather the goal should be to help others stand on their own two feet. Unjust conditions should not be placed, whereby countries are not helped until they fulfil certain demands or until they agree to establish particular relations with third-party countries.

Speaking about inequality Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad said the gap between rich and poor continued to prevail:

Regrettably, we find that more than sixty years after the formation of the United Nations, the poor countries remain destitute and deprived, whilst the developed countries have remained rich and powerful. Islam has explained that a fundamental cause of this permanent inequality is that the world has not understood that the wealth of resources granted to mankind by God is for the combined use of all of humanity.

Offering a solution to global unrest and a means to reduce inequality, Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad said:

Islam, however, counsels that the best state of affairs, which are of peace and harmony, can only be established when both sides work together for the greater good. The poor must fulfil their own responsibilities and work hard in order to benefit from their resources and wealth. On the other hand, the rich should happily display a true spirit of sacrifice in order to help their brothers and sisters.

  1. Respect for Mirza Masroor Ahmad’s continuous advocacy for world peace through his lectures, speeches and writing the letters to the world leaders.
He is indicating or warning for Third World War for the last few years.
I have question in my mind to understand, earlier Mirza Saheb stated with deep worry that NUCLEAR TERRORISM may possibly be the major cause for third world war.
But during the last few months Mirza Saheb also saying the SYRIAN WAR may the biggest reason for
    another world war.
I like to request any friend of TMT something more
detail about the world war Mirza Saheb is saying for.

  2. Almost every country in the world is drenched in senseless bloody conflicts without any declared war. What more sign of danger of World War we are looking for. I think Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad Sahib is refering to many Biblical prophecies relationg to universal destruction which may arise out of conflict in Syria
    Hamid

  3. The people who commit these terrorist acts, do follow and practice Islam. They read Quran, pray 5 times a day , the fast, they believe in unity of God and on prophethood of Mohamnad very faithfully more than any other practicing Muslim. This makes you wonder there must be something in Islam which gives reason to these people to act this way. Rejecting them by saying that they are not practicing true Islam is not true as in their mind they honestly believe they are on the right path. It is amazing that a true last religion can not define an teach its core values and basic human charter even after 1400 years. I wonder why?.
The comment made by Hazrat Mastoor that these ” so called Muslims are motivated by personal gain”
What personal gain a suicide bomber or a jihadist gets, possibly nothing . They are promised a reward after death which is the core teaching of Islam .

  4. Azhar Iqbal sb, they might be doing all the things, i.e. the 5 pillars of Islam, tells them to, but, they do not practice with understanding.

For example there are many Muslims in the world who recite the Holy Qur’an like parrots, but, when you ask them the meaning of what they are reading, they will not be able to tell you.

Such people are then dependent on what others (especially religious teachers – Mullahs), tell them.

Now, it’s these mullahs who have their own selfish interests and some of them are monetary, some of personal aggrandisement, some want people to be dependent on them for interpretation, etc.

So, with a half-baked Muslim public who have no idea if what the mullah/s is/are saying is true or not since they do not understand what the Qur’an says, will be, can be and are led astray. Also mob mentality takes over.

This is what our beloved Khalifa (aba), is talking about.

There is also a hadith of the Holy Prophet (pbuh), which says that during the Later days, there would lots of mosques which are full of worshippers and people practicing all the 5 pillars of Islam but, the substance of the faith will not be there.

Also, in the Later days, the Ulema will be some of the worst people on this earth.

Don’t you think that time is now and such people exist…., in hoards?

Hence, the reason for the advent of the Promised Messiah and Mahdi (as), to remind people of the original teachings of Islam as taught by the Holy Prophet (pbuh) and the Qur’an the final revelation from Allah to Mankind.

  5. Many of the Nazis & Bosnian Serbs were practicing Christians.
Spanish Inquisition was started by Catholic Church.
Did all these groups represented Christianity?
Mr. Iqbal, You need some lessons in history.

  6. Whatever Raziya Mohamedali has written is a good answer. I need to add my view.
Take the case of Maudoodi Sahib. He wrote books (booklets) on Islam, Saum o salat, Zakat and Hajj and Jihad. The language was simple and easy (inviting). In those books he claimed that Saum o salat and Zakat and HaJJ were to prepare the Muslims for Jihad. He believed in aggressive Jihad, with sword and bombs.

Those books were published by Taj company. I read those books. I was attracted. Later, in 60’s I practically read all the books written by Maudoodi sahib, including his commentary of Quran. I knew that it was the last word (very suitable).

So public is attracted like that. Maudoodi sahib may be some qualified person or better placed. But whatever is being taught to young children in other Madrassas is the worst knowledge (or no knowledge.) The misinformation spreads like that.

On top of all that, consider the hindrance caused by the Mullas that it is a sin to speak to any Ahmadi, it is a sin to read any of their books…

That creates a big barrier which cannot be crossed easily. We see the non-Ahmadi Muslims, they respect the Quran very much, and kiss it and put it at high places and do not turn their back on the Quran. Their sincereity is great. But our Ahmadi teachers could not convince them, against the force of the mulla advice, to have a look at any one of our books.

I have experienced that no matter how much i preach verbally to any non-Ahmadi, if I do not give him a book or he does not accept a book, he cannot be guided.

There may be easy ways to attract crowds ( examples, Tahir Qadri sahib and Zakar Naik). Such persons have been in the field in all ages. They attract more crowds due to their modi oprandi.

The Jama’at AHMADIYAH MUSLIMAH is united under one Imam and doing all deeds according to the divine law. The other people are divided into many sects. In general, we do not see any obedience among prayer mongers in local non-Ahmadi mosques.

The main consolation we have is that we are doing the right thing being guided by the Khalifah sahib.

  7. There is a very urgent need to spread these messages of peace in all countries, particularly in muslims nations by all kind of media so peoples can understand and they can put pressure on their governments to achieve the real justice & peace.

  8. It’s not just a matter of preaching the message of Peace in all countries, especially the Muslim ones, but, also to EDUCATE the public (as against the Mullahs teachings of violence), in the original teachings of the Qur’an and Sunnah which are everything to do with peace and NOT VIOLENCE!

I too have read Maulana Maudidi’s books and though at first I absorbed them like a sponge, I suddenly realized that quite a lot of his writings were contrary to what Islam actually taught. Most of his teachings are not at all compatible with todays world and I was soon very put off, Alhamdulillah!

Subsequently, I was very relieved to discover that there was a community, in the ‘jungle’ of communities (all purporting to follow Islam), that believed and practiced SENSE, thank God! This was the Ahmadiyya community and will forever be grateful to the friend who introduced me to it. God bless her, always.
