Twenty Seven new islands emerge in Aceh, Indonesia

REPUBLIKA: About 27 new islands emerge in the marine in Simeulue, Aceh, on the aftermath of earthquake and tsunami in December 2004. The new islands are showing the signs of life.

Before the tsunami, the number of small islands in Simeulue was only 41. “Now it is 68,” the Deputy Regent of Simeulue, Hasrul Edyar, said on Tuesday.
