Indonesia dominates Southeast Asian Games

JAKARTA—Indonesia won 16 gold medals to extend its domination of the 26th Southeast Asian Games into a third day Sunday for a total of 40 gold, 21 silver and 13 bronze.

Thailand surpassed Vietnam to move into second place after claiming 11 golds, 16 silvers and 24 bronzes. Vietnam collected eight more golds, 18 silvers and 19 bronzes.

Singapore added three more gold to place fourth. Other gold winners included Malaysia and the Philippines.

Earlier, Mohammad Fadilah captured Brunei’s first medal after winning silver in karate.

Compatriot Muhammad Samil claimed bronze, with Myanmar and Laos the only other silver and bronze winners.

The hosts struck gold on Saturday with first places in the men’s and women’s 100 meters races and a hatful of wins in karate and roller sports leading their medal charge. Read more
