No divorces during Ramadan in Qatif

By ARAB NEWS

QATIF: The Department of Endowments and Heritage in the eastern city of Qatif has decided to ban divorces during the holy month of Ramadan, local Arabic daily Al-Riyadh reported Thursday.

The department reportedly held a meeting attended by all marriage officials in the region and told them not to sanction any divorces during the fasting month.

“This action might give a disputing couple a chance to reconcile before they make the divorce final,” said Sheikh Muhammad Al-Jirani, a judge at the department. read here
