Burqa and Burkini Ban in France

The “burkini ban” recently implemented in a number of French cities has become a topic of global controversy; especially when the images spread online of a women being forced by a group of male police officers to remove her clothing at a beach in Nice. France has already imposed a ban on Niqab and such steps seem too invasive on part of governments to dictate what women should or should not wear. Here are ten out of tons of reason:

  1. Freedom of rights and choice must encompass a Muslim woman’s rights and choices to wear burqa or burkini; just as it serves to protect the right of other women to wear other type of costumes or dresses.
  2. If faith based dresses are banned for one minor group of women, it will open the doorway to many other type of faith based dresses to be questioned and banned.
  3. All women who were fined in France for wearing Burqa or burkini had no criminal record.
  4. Veil is not just Islamic commandment. It is Judaic as well a Christian commandment. Did you notice all Christian women wear Niqab at weddings.
  5. The burqa is extremely rare in France. The Interior Ministry estimated that just 2,000 French women wore the niqab out of an estimated population of 7.5 million and some think that even that estimate was faulty and potentially too high.
  6. It doesn’t seem like the ban acts as a great deterrent. Women still wear the niqab in France. French data from 2015 showed that 1,546 fines had been imposed under the law and most of them are repeat “offenders”
  7. Even non-Muslims think that such ban is invasion of a woman’s rights. French women can face fines of 150 euros ($167) for wearing the full-face veil in public. However, a businessman named Rachid Nekkaz claims to have paid at least 1,165 fines in France so far to support the rights of all women.
  8. The burkini isn’t just for Muslims. “We’ve sold to Jews, Hindus, Christians, Mormons, women with various body issues. We’ve had men asking for them, too,” Zanetti explained. In a separate interview with Women’s Wear Daily, Zanetti estimated that around 40 percent of her client base was non-Muslim.
  9. Some experts say that the law has actually propelled more women to wear the veil rather than discouraged it. An investigator De Feo said that many of the women she talks to who wear the niqab in France today were inspired to wear the veil by the law; often they are young converts to Islam.
  10. The burkini did not originate in Afghanistan. The burkini’s origin can be traced to Australia, where it was created by a woman named Aheda Zanetti in the early 2000s to integrate Muslim women rather disintegrate them in to isolation.

  1. Most of Muslims around the world have been brainwashed by the ancient Arab’s clerics who live in desert. Actually there is no Islamic dress code, what we see today is Arab Muslim’s dress.

Ancient Clerics teach Muslims that “burqa”, Hijab are Islamic women’s clothing
and “thobe” is Islamic men clothing.

    Let me ask you all;
If Islam sent down in NOT desert country like Saudi Arabia, do you think Allah will sent the same verses like QS 33;59, 24;31? I do not think so.

    Whereas Allah said Quran 49;31.
O mankind! We created you from a single of a male and a female, and made you into nations and tribes, ( Allah created many kind of clothes, languages ) ) that you may know each other (not that you may despise each other). Verily the most honored of you in the sight of Allah is (he who is) the most righteous of you. And Allah has full knowledge and is well acquainted (with all things).

So Burqa, Hijab, or Veil is not the Islamic dressing code, but the Arab traditional dress who live in desert at ancient times.
There are two reasons why women wear burqa:
    1. In order women can not be abducted or be kidnapped by enemy for sex-slave.
2.In order women can not be harmed by storm sand.

My suggestion to all Muslim around the world.
Muslims who live around the world ( not included those who live in desert countries). can wear your original clothes, dresses : Japan’s women have their own clothes (kimono, beautiful ) each of Europe country has its own clothes too, Indonesia has many kind of clothes.

Japan’s women have their own clothes (kimono, beautiful ) each of Europe country has its own clothes too, Indonesia has many kind of clothing. Every nations are proud their own clothing . We do not need to imitate Arab tradition’s clothes like Burqa, Hijab, Niqab for women, Thobe for men.

I urge Ahmadiyyah’s clerics and others, Please do not teach Muslim’s women to imitate Arab’s clothing, because your women will get trouble in society as we see these days.Very sad, pity and embarrassing too as a Muslim
Allah has imposed no difficulties on you in religion of Islam. Quran.22;78. ONLY CLERICS have imposed difficulties on his followers.

    TO MUSLIM WOMEN, BE SMART.!
DO NOT FEEL GUILTY OR SINFUL, IF YOU DO NOT COVER YOUR HEAD,HAIR, HANDS AND FEET IN PUBLIC. ALLAH IS ALL WISER AND FORGIVER.

  2. This last year we with our family felt very much the danger of this fearmongering in France having cloth-bans. At certain places (the beaches) we where over dressed and not allowed on the beach at others we where so called too nude and not allowed in religious buildings and certain Christian musea.

If faith based dresses are banned for one minor group of women, it not only will open the doorway to many other type of faith based dresses to be questioned and banned but will give a sign to the community that discrimination on the base of faith, in general will be all right and permitted.

This way we already find certain café’s where women are not tolerated. (Muslim men excluding female beings.)

    • The burqini has nothing to do with a burqa and nothing should be against it. If people want to have certain body parts protected for sunlight or would wear certain clothes for religious reasons they should be allowed to. The burqini does not bring any danger to other people. It is totally different with the burqa where any body can be hiding under such dress or could hide dangerous weapons. That is impossible with a burqini.
