US First Lady Michelle Obama has said the mass kidnap of Nigerian schoolgirls is part of a wider pattern of threats and intimidation facing girls around the world who pursue an education.

She said she and her husband Barack Obama were “outraged and heartbroken” over the abduction on 14 April of more than 200 girls from their school.

She was speaking instead of her husband in the weekly presidential address.

The Islamist militant group Boko Haram has claimed the abductions.

Boko Haram at a glance

  • Founded in 2002
  • Initially focused on opposing Western education – Boko Haram means “Western education is forbidden” in the local Hausa language
  • Launched military operations in 2009 to create Islamic state
  • Thousands killed, mostly in north-eastern Nigeria – also attacked police and UN headquarters in capital, Abuja
  • Some three million people affected
  • Declared terrorist group by US in 2013

Mrs Obama, who was speaking ahead of Mother’s Day in the US on Sunday, said the girls reminded her and her husband of their own daughters.

    QUR’AN 5:3

Yusuf Ali: Forbidden to you (for food) are: dead meat, blood, the flesh of swine, and that on which hath been invoked the name of other than Allah; that which hath been killed by strangling, or by a violent blow, or by a headlong fall, or by being gored to death; that which hath been (partly) eaten by a wild animal; unless ye are able to slaughter it (in due form); that which is sacrificed on stone (altars); (forbidden) also is the division (of meat) by raffling with arrows: that is impiety. This day have those who reject faith given up all hope of your religion: yet fear them not but fear Me. This day have I perfected your religion for you, completed My favour upon you, and have chosen for you Islam as your religion. But if any is forced by hunger, with no inclination to transgression, Allah is indeed Oft-forgiving, Most Merciful.

    QUR’AN 5:2

    Sahih International
O you who have believed, do not violate the rites of Allah or [the sanctity of] the sacred month or [neglect the marking of] the sacrificial animals and garlanding [them] or [violate the safety of] those coming to the Sacred House seeking bounty from their Lord and [His] approval. But when you come out of ihram, then [you may] hunt. And do not let the hatred of a people for having obstructed you from al-Masjid al-Haram lead you to transgress. And cooperate in righteousness and piety, but do not cooperate in sin and aggression. And fear Allah ; indeed, Allah is severe in penalty.

We, Muslim alway claim that Islam is peaceful religion and bring mercy to all mankind. But in reality we have to admit that the current interpretation of Islam by ancient scholars, extremist Muslim through the book of Hadits create; the violence, conflict, kill innocent people, children, blasphemy, apostasy, gay-lesbian, and even religious war between extremist Muslim wahabi-Salafi and Muslim Syiah. Muslim are killing Muslim, Arab are killing Arab in the way of brutality. As we now in Syria,Iraq,Afghanistan, Yemen, Sudan, Somalia, Nigeria, Pakistan etc.
What is wrong with Millions Muslim who pray 5 times a day and do fasting every year ?
Educated Muslim around the world should find the root of this violence and killing innocent people even kill children in way of brutality.
By saying condemnation only is not enough, should be followed by action wisely.
    All love

As regards the count of the verses of the Holy Quran, the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community also counts the opening verse of each chapter, whereas Yusuf Ali did not and that may explain the difference in count by 1.
