A local Ahmadi leader is shot and killed in Karachi, Pakistan, it is learnt from reports posted in the social media website, Twitter.
According to the early information, the president of the Ahmadiyya Jama’at of Orangi Town, Karachi was gunned down in front of his own home early Thursday.
The shots were fired into the victim’s head at a close range, it was further learned.
The incident is confirmed by Saleem-ud Din, the national spokesperson of the Ahmadiyya Jama’at in Pakistan and the victim has been identified as Naeem Ahmad Gondal of Orangi Town area in Karachi.
The victim was 52 year old and leaves behind a wife.
Further, according the information made available, Mr. Gondal was a government employee, working as an Assistant Director – Accounts, for the State Bank of Pakistan.
Ahmadis are an easy target of murder and religious hate because of the sate imposed procedures restricting their rights and freedom.
Although not yet confirmed, Saleem-ud Din suspects, this might be the result of hatemongering incited through Anti-Ahmadi signs, hate literature, and wall-chalkings in Gondal’s immediate area.
Ahmadiyya spokesperson said Naeem Gondal is the 7th Ahmadis to lay his life during the first 7 months of 2012.
“This is the second Ahmadi in Karachi in 6 months to lose his life to such hate crimes and just few days ago another Ahmadi was targeted,” Saleemudin further stated.

There is need to elaborate constrictive thinking and uplift of moral values, tolerance and self esteem.
