  1. “Then We (Allah) caused Our Messengers to follow in their footsteps; and We caused Jesus, son of Mary, to follow them, and We gave him the Gospel. And We placed in the hearts of those who accepted him compassion and mercy. But monasticism which they invented for themselves — We did not prescribe it for them — for the seeking of Allah’s pleasure; but they did not observe it with due observance. Yet We gave those of them who believed their due reward, but many of them are rebellious.” (Al Quran 57:28)

  2. Islam prescribes monasticism. pro.Mohammed banned his wifes from marrying after his death. Aysha,Rahana are nearly 20 yrs old when Pro.Mohammed died. Pro.Mohammed had justified his decision by saying that his wifes were the Mother of Jamat. His wifes firmly believed that they were the mothers of the Muslim Jamat and observed sanniyasam/Monasticism perfectly till their last breath.
In Hinduism also, based on Universal Mother-Father concept perfect monastcism is observed by many men and women.History teems with luminous men and women who are ardent in Moasticism. The excellent humanitarian Missionary works in Education and Medicine done by Catholic Christians are due the monastic members of the Church. Similarly in Hinduism Sri Ramakrishna Mission/Math/Vivekananda Kendra are doing excellent humanitarian works. The credit goes to the monastic members of the Association. Monasticism is not to be despised. It is suitable to some personalities not all.
