AFP: LONDON: European countries are discriminating against Muslims for demonstrating their faith, especially in the fields of education and employment, rights group Amnesty International said Tuesday.
In a report focusing on Belgium, France, the Netherlands, Spain, and Switzerland, Amnesty urged European governments to do more to challenge negative stereotypes and prejudices against Islam.
The report was particularly critical of countries that have brought in outright bans on face-covering veils or on the wearing of religious symbols in schools.
“Rather than countering these prejudices, political parties and public officials are all too often pandering to them in their quest for votes,” said Marco Perolini, Amnesty International’s expert on discrimination.
“Muslim women are being denied jobs and girls prevented from attending regular classes just because they wear traditional forms of dress, such as the headscarf.
“Men can be dismissed for wearing beards associated with Islam.”

In this connection the comments of an Italian Minister was quite positive, where he commented that after all ‘Mother Mary’ always had her head covered (in all her pictures)… and that the Muslim head scarf (hijab) was protecting the honor of the ladies.
The Non Muslims always discriminated Muslims in the past and will always do it.
But if Muslims also do something which Quran, The Holy Prophet and Islam forbid. But they ignorantly keep on defaming Islam by their practice and mistreat others in the name of religion and make them hate Islam more then ever then who is responsible?
If we read how caringly Hudhur Sallalaho Alaihi waa aalihi wasaallam and his companions treated them and even then they responded badly then when Muslims treated them furiously what would be the response?
If we want to win their hearts like our master the Holy Prophet then we have to adopt his manners. treat them with love and care and give them the message of peaceful Islam. Today theses opponents are much educated and understanding then the past.
And today Muslims have much more sophisticated and fast means to preach. We can preach even without getting out of home or seeing anyone face by face.
As for discrimination? As long as human live on this earth it will be there. What we can do is to make its intensity lesser by love care and message of peace and tolerance.
In the near past if a person faced discrimination in the under-developed countries He always looked towards the developed countries like Europe and USA. Now if the Basic Human Rights are not even safe in Europe and USA then what to do ???
Let’s Pray to God ( Allah Al-Mighty ) but if Prayers are also not allowed in the congested minded countries then ????
